Rental Equipment CompressorsTitan 351 CompressorThe Titan 351 modified Ford is an integral engine/compressor by separating cylinders 1 thru 4 from cylinders 5 thru 8. This design was unique in the compression natural gas when we started in 1989 and has since been accepted as a standard method of compression by majors and independents. The following data provides a general breakdown of compressor parts and components. Pressure VolumesCompressorCylinders 1 thru 4 are fitted with a patented water cooled compressor head. Installed in the head are four dual, suction/discharge, concentric valves. With our low discharge temperatures, compressor valve failure from overheating is almost nonexistent. EngineBLOCK: The 351, CID low pressure has a 4” bore and a 3 1/2” stroke. The high pressure compressor side has a 3.75” bore and 3 1/2” stroke. ENGINE POWER CURVE: 42hp at 2100 RPM max. brake horsepower. Cylinders 5 thru 8 are the power side. CYLINDER HEAD: High grade cast iron with hardened valve seats and stainless steel or nitrate coated valves. PISTONS: Cast aluminum alloy. Top ring – barrel face moly filled cast iron or cast iron. Second ring – cast iron. Third ring – oil control ring chrome plated steel three piece segmented. CONNECTING RODS: Forged I-beam CAMSHAFT: Five bearing, special alloy cast iron MAIN BEARINGS: Steel backed over-plated copper/lead
Lubricating System: Pressure to crankshaft main bearings, connecting rod bearings, tappets and crankshaft bearings. Oil mist to piston pins and cylinder walls. Metered flow to timing chain and rocker arms. The system is fed by a 5 gallon oil tank with an oil level controller that replaces the oil automatically. Controls and Electronics: consists of Murphy Mfg. Switch gauges, level controls and tattletales. Datcon tach/hourmeters and a Woodward electronic governor are standard. “Electronic Ignition” components, such as distributor, coil, spark plugs, wires, solenoids, start switches and so on are by Ford Motorcraft. Carburetor and Propane System: The fuel system uses a regulated natural gas carburetor. The controls on the “Propane Warmup System” use a converter and 20# propane bottle as a standard item. These are used for trouble-free starts in the field. |
